ClimatePro has installed window film in homes large and small throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. One frequently asked question is: How do I prepare my windows for a window film installation?
First, please note that our team always checks windows and doors before we install them. This is an added layer of assurance that your windows will get the best care and coverage possible. It would be really helpful if you could let the installation team know in advance if there are any existing window cracks, chips, or other damage. We will also clean your windows thoroughly before the installation, so you don’t have to worry about doing it yourself. However, there are some things you can do to ensure a timely and safe installation. Here’s what you, the homeowner, can do to get your windows ready:
Clear the Area:
- Remove window treatments: Remove any curtains, blinds, or shades to allow the tinting professional full access to the windows. If you can’t completely remove the treatments, do your best to position them away from the glass for easy access. Our team can remove the treatments for you, which may require additional fees.
- Move furniture: If possible, move furniture away from the windows to create a clear workspace for the installer. This will prevent accidental bumps or scratches during the process. If you need assistance with moving furniture, let our team know before the installation, and we may be able to help.
- Remove items from window sills: This includes plants, art, pictures, knick-knacks, or other items.
Clean the Area:
- Close vents: One way to reduce dust and other particles is to close air conditioning and heating vents near the windows that will have window film installed.
- Vacuum the area: It’s a good idea to clean the floors and vacuum the carpeting the day before installation.
- Pets: If possible, please relocate your pets during the installation.
