Some jobs we’ve done in the city.
San Francisco Embarcadero Center
The Embarcadero Center located in the financial district of San Francisco is a commercial building complex comprising of 5 towers. It has 4.8 million square feet of space and can hold 14,000 people. The tenants in these buildings enjoy remarkable views of the bay and city, however those that face south, west and east could not enjoy those views because they needed to have heavy drapes or blinds to block out the sun’s intense heat. Besides this annoyance for the tenants the buildings engineering team from Boston Properties a trouble keeping a comfortable temperature throughout the building, not to mention the expense. After several years of searching for a solution, window film was realized to be the answer. The size of this project required extensive research from the building’s maintenance team to find the right product and firm to complete a window film project of this size. ClimatePro was the selected window film installer and 3M window films were chosen. It was reported that as soon as the window film installation started tenants noticed a huge difference in the comfort. The reason being tenants on the south where no longer hot and tenants requested to have the air conditioning turned down. The reduction in air conditioning usage translated into a energy savings of $350,000 per year. On top of that savings Pacific Gas & Electric provided rebate which helped make this window film project provided a return on investment of under three years. A total of 350,000 square feet of 3M Night Vision window film was installed on the Embarcadero Center.
Ultimately, Murtagh says, we chose ClimatePro (known as Climate Insulating Products, Inc. at the time), a 3M authorized dealer, citing 3M’s Night Vision window film product line, as well as the company’s worldwide name recognition and product warranties.
As soon as the window film installation project was under way, tenants began reporting improvements, says Murtagh: “In fact, we even got a couple of calls asking us to turn down the air-conditioning, because now, on that warm southern face of the building, some of the tenants were cold!”

California Academy of Sciences
Another fun project ClimatePro was able to do in San Francisco was working at the California Academy of Sciences installing UV musem window film to protect sensitive small animals from ultraviolet rays and display cases from fading. We got a behind the scenes experience while working at the museum which is located in Golden Gate Park. We also helped create and design a custom case enclosure using a frosted window film to help visitors experience the display better.
This was a really fun project we did for Resource Interactives offices located in San Francisco. Contacted by their headquarters to work on their bay area office space, Resource Interactive wanted to create a custom branded environment. We knew just thing, frosted window film digitally cut by a custom created pattern and nice big wall mural. Check out the images for how it turned out.
